The Future The next step is to finish the white barn as an environmental education and meeting facility. This will require providing conveniences such as a bathroom, kitchen, and furnace, as well as compliance with all building codes. Construction has started. The long-range plan is to use the white house for a historic museum and/or administrative offices. The ice house and other outbuildings will be part of the typical farm scene. Please contact the people on Friends of Ambler Farm Board or Town of Wilton Steering Committee to volunteer your help or see our volunteer page for specific help needed. With the help of a strong base of active and dedicated volunteers: Ambler Farm Day has become a Wilton tradition. Successful fundraisers include the holiday greens sale, golf marathon, and southern-style barbeque. The icehouse, corncrib, and privy have been rebuilt, as has the red barn, which is animal ready. Renovation of the white carriage barn is in progress. Plans are underway to restore the white house ("Betty's house.") Educational gardens, including a deer-resistant garden and an organic, heirloom garden, are in their fourth year. The yield of the heirloom garden is donated to the Wilton Food Bank. Major steps have been taken to restore the grounds to their former beauty. Community groups, including Kiwanis, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Wilton Garden Club, the Wilton Historical Society, and Wilton High School, have enjoyed and volunteered at the farm.
