Apprentice Program

May through October

This one-of-a-kind 6 month program is open to students in grades five through nine.  Students will meet several times a week (as their schedule permits) to plant, maintain and harvest the farm's gardens. Apprentices become experts in handling our rabbits and summer chickens as well as work together to assist in all aspects of the farm. They often work with younger children to teach about the farm as well as act as ambassadors to visitors. Apprentices work on the farm and should know that the work can be challenging but incredibly rewarding. Before signing your child up for this program, a conversation with our program coordinator (Kevin Meehan, 667-6941) is required to ensure a balance of ages and gender in the group as well as to discuss if this program is a good fit for your child. This program will be limited to 20 apprentices.

Ages: Grades 5-9

Fee: $500

Registration: Contact Kevin Meehan, 667-6941 or meehank@wilton.k12.ct.us.
